The higher level thinking in math is pretty scary. However, after our discussion in 5th grade anyway during our STAR summit, Nixa has done a great job with some preparation. I really feel that Angie gave us something to think about from our beginning of the school year PD she did about Common Core math. Some of the best PD I have had in a long time. I am still using several of the ideas shared. The other schools had no idea that so much was out there already. So kudos Angie! We need more PD like that!
ReplyDeleteI would agree with Lori about the Math. I remember my students last year taking the sample test, and I had students who were ALERT students not sure of their responses. It is definitely a step up and a deeper test for sure! BUT....with Common Core, good planning, and rigor in the classroom, students should and will be successful.
